I’m working on a series called Day-by-Day Decluttering to help those of you who are just getting started–or starting over again–on decluttering. If you’re new to this site, click here to start at day 1.
If you’re serious about gaining control over the clutter in your life, what do you do on decluttering day 2? Wash the dishes–every last one of them (well, the dirty ones anyway). Then put them all away.
Day 2 of decluttering! I mentioned a while back that I have been reading Decluttering at the Speed of Life. In the book, Dana White talks about “procrasticlutter”—you know, those dishes and that laundry that may even be clean, but need to be put away. Sometimes when clutter has taken over, such small steps can help you gain control and give you motivation to move forward. So today, spend some time washing—and putting away—all the dishes. (Make sure you get all the dishes, including the ones in the living room and under your teenager’s bed. 😉)
